Jamin Jackson. 2015 Edition

Jamin Jackson

Summer 2015 was a busy time for me. So many new communities have bubbled up across the planet – all sharing new passion for swing, and I’m happy to have visited one of my new favorites.

In Madrid alone, there are many swing dancers starting new parties, new schools, and new camps. One of the newest schools that I’m excited to have had the opportunity to serve, is BIG SOUTH. (Make sure to like their Face book page.)

This swing organization burst onto the scene a few years ago, adding tremendous teaching value and culture in the Madrid  community.

Hector has been dancing since 1999. Started with Ball dance, felt more attracted to Latin dances, afro-cuban rhythms and Argentinian tango. It wasn’t until 2005 when he began to dance Lindy Hop, but the essence of this dance captured him and started to teach in 2009. Nowadays, Hector dances and teaches Cuban Salsa, Argentinian Tango and Lindy Hop in different and important Barcelona schools.

And also…

Esther & Jesús

BALBOA TRACK

They have been dancing Balboa since 2010. Since the beginning they were formed through national and international festivals, which has allowed them to develop their dance beyond figures, based on creativity and mastery of technique that allows greater freedom in the dance.
As dancers they have also formed in Lindy hop, Blues and Solo Jazz, and it is in Balboa where they have developed their maximum passion.

The Tiny Papash

SOLO JAZZ TRACK

(Julia & Paola) Together they have been finalists in the Paris Jazz Roots 2017 with their own choreography that represents what they like: playing with the musical dialogue … as a team! Lindy Hop and Solo Jazz dancers have fun posing challenges based on confidence, energy and humor. In their classes they work as much collective dynamics as dialogues within the single jazz, constructing a healthy search of the individual dance.

Jesús Carreras

He will be the coordinator of DJ’s … Dancer and event organizer at the Swing Madrid scene since 2010.

He is currently professor of Balboa in Big South and co-organizer of Madrid in Pulse, the Balboa Festival in Madrid. He has played in local and international events both Lindy and Balboa. Feel a special predilection for everything that comes close to the New Orleans Jazz style, the melodies of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw and Count Basie’s sense of rhythm 😉
