BAMBOO BODY MADRID
Thanks to the artistic work of our four guest teachers, and the lines of work in their personal projects, we have been able to develop and promote the original idea of this event. We dedicate this innovative EVENT design to Jazz Dance and Movement Culture.
inspired by the integration of both fields, in one concept as a whole, for Swing Dancers and curious movers.
Sonia & Héctor
“Working our body movement in recent years has meant for us a huge and enriching shift in our way of thinking, taking care of ourselves and approaching Art.
It is a line of work, which begins by incorporating elementary ideas, and grows into more complex movements, where you yourself can find your challenge and find the level of difficulty that you need to work on at that moment.”
Clàudia Fonte
“I feel I am “learning to learn!” Through movement (a physical quality of our body) we learn many others: coordination, quality of movement itself, reflexes, strength, flexibility… During the sessions, everyone in the group is sharing the same exercise. Each one bringing in her own body, her mind, her experience and background… and we all achieve a result on that same training exercise. In addition, each situation that we work on has no limits, and we can integrate this discipline into our daily lives as a tool for personal development.”
Edu Salinas
But where does each of them begin or end? Given this perspective in which everything is everything and there is no separation, everything is affected.
Our relationship with the “body” (which is the relationship with ourselves) and the way to develop it, takes on a different dimension.
In this way, perspectives such as “I do this to be stronger, more flexible, resistant, etc…” shift to a deeper and more holistic development.
We are thrilled to invite these four outstanding dancers for this Edition!
Together not only they leave us speechless with their energy and joy on the dance floor, but with their good vibes and enthusiasm all along!
Adding to this, they are great friends, and share a passion for creating magical moments in their dancing.
As teachers and organizers, they have grown wonderful and high-quality local Projects and dance events, which we are proud of our fully supporting and sharing.
We will continue to grow and enjoy together!
GINA MONZÓN
“I very much enjoy teaching Lindy Hop. In my classes, I try to include all aspect of the dance going from musicality and rhythms over authentic figures and small routines.
For me, Lindy Hop is more than a dance, it is a way to connect to yourself, to feel your body and the body of your partner while relaxing your brain.
My goal for teaching is to let dancers experience the joy I feel when I am dancing.
Dancing and teaching gives me a steady good feeling in my everyday live. Thanks to all the dancers who make this possible!”
NIK TAFFNER
“I love to make the best out of every situation. Maybe that is why I am in love with the art and artists of the swing era.
Looking at old clips and the old-timers dancing, I see and feel that every moment in their dance, every little movement or rhythm is so full of energy and the connection with their partners seem to be so intense and joy-full.
This is where I am heading. In my teaching I am encouraging my students to find this magic in their own dance.
I want them to get to know themselves and develop their own unique style.”
ISA JIMÉNEZ & CARLOS MAGARVI
Carlos has been jumping from activity to activity until he landed on the Lindy dancefloor! Since then, he has dived into the understanding and feeling to pass on the roots and spirit of this culture.
They see the Lindy hop as a street dance, therefore, they focus their teaching on the most social part of the dance, respecting the natural and unique way that each person has to express themselves.
INTERMEDIATE:
You know the basics such as Swing out, Charleston, Frankie 6’s, and Tandem. You want to improve classic moves through some new movements that can give you a different point of view of the dance.
You do the Shim Sham easily and classic Jazz Steps too! Yet the challenge still is the flow from one move to another, and to feel comfortable playing with rhythms. You are ready to start working on improvisation, or level up to be more comfortable.
ADVANCED:
Faster music gets you rocking! (+190bpm). Slower tempos are challenging when you focus on quality moves and rhythms. You have a workline in your dancing to focus on right now, but always living the joy of social dancing as a must! If your level is more of an “invitational”, you will find your challenge in this group as well!
You are a top Solo Jazz dancer! Feeling comfortable with rhythm challenges and being able to move in the right energy and timing to suit a new move or idea.
- Week 1 Swing Dance program includes some classes with both levels at the same time, as one group altogether.
- Week 1 Movement classes will gather all of us together to perform the same exercise. Each of us belongs to our own body, mind and background to result in a unique experience to You. We all achieve a result from this process! Everybody is welcome to join!
- All classes will be held in English and Spanish 😉
¡Please remember to register WITH A PARTNER!
